Hiya. Yeah, I try not to totally bash drugs because I haven't ever experienced them. I'm sure I'd like it once they took effect, why else would so many use them for pleasure/enhancement? I choose not to use them for my own reasons...mostly because of negative exposure to them in familial and friendly relationships...Corny as fuck, but my heights are reached when making or listening to music we love on this list. Hey hey! BUT I just wanted to give a quick voice from a different perspective. It is tempting to become near anti- drugs when you choose not to do them but you're immersed in surroundings where people do them. I find it funny that people consider drugs a "counterculture" still. I've not met many people who have never done drugs by choice (i.e. not prevented by medical condition)... After being in high school, then college (Oberlin College...not exactly a the non-drug fortress, eh?), and all the while being heavily influenced by and involved in electronic music, it takes some effort not to resent my surrounding which I feel pretty alienated from... But I try. Brilliant people use and are influenced by frugs and that can't be ignored. Then of course, there are those like the guy who told me that I can't enjoy a 303 unless I'm on acid. Whatevah... ANd besides, I think you could watch Home SHopping Club and it would be more exciting on acid... Although I think even the most enthusiastic of (open minded) drug users steer clear of comments like that 303-comment guy.

That would suck. You should never be kicked off a list, especially for honesty, ya know? I guess the only thing might be that after abandoning alt.rave and alt.music.techno (not as bad as alt.rave) because there was more drug discussion than music discussion, I'd hate to see the same thing happen on idm or another music list. I.e., it seemed a waste of mail space when someone on analogue_heaven posted "WHO'S ON ACID?" (although it was a funny waste of mailspace.) I'm contributing to the very phenomenon I'm hoping to avoid so c-ya... My 2 cents. -morgan geist
